What is IITs ?
The Indian Institute of Technology(IITs) is a prestigious
group of autonomous public engineering and management institutes of India. IITs
are known as the best institutes in India. IITs offer a undergraduate degree of
B.Tech. The post-graduate level program that awards M.Tech degree in
engineering is only given by the older IITs. In addition to B.Tech and M.Tech
programs they also provide other graduate degrees such as M.Sc in Engineering,
Maths, Physics and Chemistry, MBA, PhD etc.

How to get admission in IITs ?
Students aspiring to
get admission in these prestigious institutes must qualify their entrance exam.
The entrance exam is conducted in two
stages – JEE Mains and JEE Advanced.
The students have to first appear in Jee Mains conducted
every year in the month of April. (JEE Mains was previously known as AIEEE).
The candidate must have to secure a position under 150,000 (around 75000 for
General category) to be eligible to give
JEE-Advanced. The first test JEE Mains is given by around 14 lakhs students.
The successful candidates then have to secure a position
well under 10,000 to get admission in good IIT.
Still the qualified candidate must have to scored 75%
percent marks in his/her board exam or should be in top 20 percentile in their
respective boards (whichever is lower).
