JEE Mains Information
The Joint Entrance Exam released a new procedure for
admission in IITs and NITs in the year 2013. The admission to the undergraduate
programs at the IITs and NITs will be based on a two tier test, which consist
of JEE Main (previously known as AIEEE) and JEE Advaned (previously known as
IIT-JEE).
The first exam is called the JEE Main conducted by CBSE. The
JEE Main will be conducted on both online and offline modes on different dates.
Based on JEE Mains merit list, the candidate is able to get admission into NIT
institute. JEE Mains is also the selection test of the candidates those who
will eligible to give JEE Advanced.
The merit list is prepared on the basis of JEE Mains score
and percentage of 12th board giving 40% weightage to class XII or
other qualifying examination and 60% to the performance in JEE Mains
Examination.
Exam Pattern of JEE Mains
JEE Mains consists of two papers :
1.
Paper 1 for aspirants of Engineering courses
(both online and offline)
2.
Paper 2 for aspirants of Architecture/Planning
courses (only offline)
Paper 1 –
1.
The exam will be of three hours duration
2.
30 questions each of Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics will be asked making total of 90 questions.
3.
All questions are of multiple choice. Each
question will have 4 choices out of which only one is correct. 4 marks will be
awarded for correct answers and (-)1 for each wrong answers and zero for not
attemting it. So it means maximum marks will be 360.
Paper 2 –
The JEE Main paper 2 is only for those who
want to take Architecture/Courses and it is not compulsory to write both tests.
You can opt to give only Paper 1 and most of the students only give paper 1 for
engineering courses. The paper will
consist of objective type questions. The JEE Main paper will consist of 3 parts
–

Mathematics
2.
Aptitude Test
3.
Drawing Test
